OAKTON CREW REGISTRATION
2021-2022 Season

Follow these steps to register for Winter Conditioning & Spring Crew — Please note that if you participated in fall rowing, you must now register in full for the team. Forms that were previously submitted for fall rowing do not need to be submitted again, but please complete an updated team online registration form so we can track membership, and submit additional required forms as listed below.

This year we are offering a few different ways to pay for your membership:

  • You can make a single payment for the entire season

  • You can make two (2) payments - one now and one that will auto withdraw on Jan 1)

  • You can make six (6) payments - an initial payment and then payments Oct thru Feb

As this is our first full regular season in a while, we want to remind returning rowers and inform new rowers that we have Volunteering and Fundraising requirements for rowers/parents.

  • Volunteering - each family is required to volunteer:

    • At least one VASRA volunteer slot (typically for a time frame during part of a regatta - such as driving a launch or helping with concessions

    • At least one Oakton volunteer slot (help at a spring season Friday Dinner

  • Fundraising - each family is expected to help with Fundraising to assist with operational costs and equipment repairs/purchases.

    • Expected min amount raised $300

    • Ways to raise funds

      • January Oakton vs. Madison Ergathon participation (rowers seek donations/sponsors for their rowing).

      • Email/Phone Campaign

Note: when you register for Oakton Crew you will have the ability to opt-out of fundraising and/or volunteer if you do not have the time or inclination to participate in either.

  • Volunteering opt-out fee: $350

  • Fundraising opt-out fee: $300

1. Complete the online registration form.  The term "Rower" includes all teammates, including rowers and coxswains. PLEASE INCLUDE AN EMAIL ADDRESS THAT YOU ROUTINELY CHECK, as we will add these to our communications platforms for regular messages, team updates, schedules, and deadlines.

2. Use the Membership Forms Checklist to ensure completion of all forms; forms are listed below with links.

3. Register with Oakton High School via rSchool: https://oakton-ar.rschooltoday.com/account

4. If you have not already done so, sign up for The Catch, our newsletter for information & updates.

5. Join our Slack Channel for real-time updates throughout the week regarding practices, winter conditioning announcements, and all the latest news that needs to be shared before The Catch comes out.

7. Submit a completed VHSL Sports Physical to the Activities office at Oakton High School.

  • You cannot mail this to Crew or hand it to a coach, and please do NOT leave the physical in the Crew OHS mailbox.

  • Any rower who does not have a completed physical filed with the Activities Office staff will not be allowed in the Boathouse or on the water.

  • Please check with your doctor's office for completion requirements. Physicals can also be performed at other medical locations, like Patient First.

  • If you already have a VHSL physical on file for the 2021-22 school year for another sport or activity, you do not need to file a second copy.

8. Complete and submit an Emergency Care Form (you can download the completed FCPS Emergency Care form to save time). When completed email the form to membership@oaktoncrew.com

9. Complete and submit the Communicable disease form to membership@oaktoncrew.com

10. Complete the USRowing Waiver and/or renew your dues:

  • Go to the USRowing Membership Portal and select "Individuals/Join"

  • Enter club name: "Oakton High School" and club code: "AASHJ"

  • Enroll in Basic Membership (fee = $9.75) and sign the waiver for the current year.

  • You do not need to send OCCBC a certificate for this step - confirmation will be sent directly to Oakton Crew by USRowing.
